Bicker Poppies November 2023

Please read this beautiful message from Sue Stainton about the Bicker Poppies Project:
‘My idea last November to have our lovely village decorated with poppies has now been achieved!!
There have been so many people involved from start to finish and I apologise if I miss anyone off the list – a huge thank you to all the knitters and crafters for making the poppies, those who gave pop/water bottles for the outside poppies, Matthew for spraying all those hundreds of bottle bottoms, Bob for his help with the wooden poppies, everyone who donated items such as netting and wool and cash and Liz and Claire for all their help with the displays in the church and the bridges. Not forgetting my husband who has had to put up with me cutting and drilling the plastic bottles and filling the house up with poppies.
The year’s total was approximately 3,500 and they have all just about been used up!
I have really enjoyed organising and working on this project. I will be having a break for a couple of months, but there is an idea brewing for a smaller poppy project for next year.
For those of you who are not able to visit the Church during the next two weeks here is a video, but it really is worth a visit, they look stunning’
On behalf of the Bicker of village, a massive thank you to Sue and the Poppy Team!
